Who it is for

Anti-fraud systems are an essential part of modern online business, where the problem of fraud is relevant for many webmasters. These systems are designed to detect and prevent online fraud. Below, we'll explain how to check your antidetect to avoid getting caught by anti-fraud systems later

Reliable checkers

BrowserLeaks

In 2016, this was indeed a great project, but it has been almost seven years since then. People still trust this project to check their identifiers. Let's think about it: they’re trying to bypass anti-fraud systems of 2023-2024 but are checking on a 2016 project. The project has hardly changed since 2016.

Device Info

It has been around for a long time and provides much more information than BrowserLeaks, but it’s more fragmented and lacks a systematic approach.

Pixelscan

An excellent checker. At the moment, it’s one of the best services for checking the privacy of your browser.

CreepJS

This checker is an excellent solution with open-source code compared to Pixelscan. It even rates your browser. However, there are several major issues with all the checkers we've shown above. These services are essentially laboratory solutions. In other words, the technologies used on these sites aren’t applied in practice.

Fingerprint

Among the checkers available to regular users, only one stands out — Fingerprint. Its technologies are used by Western Union, Booking, Agoda, Dropbox, Coinbase, Rockstar, Yahoo, and others. Therefore, it’s a truly practical solution. There are laboratory solutions, and then there are real-world solutions. You won't find other reliable checkers like Fingerprint.

How to create your own checker from scratch

Want to find information on tracking any fingerprint? Just type its name into the GitHub search, go in and take a look. There are absolutely no problems with this. Creating your own checker involves spending a few evenings putting together scripts from GitHub into a unified whole, formatting it, and then getting your personal product, which you can present and sell. However, none of these checkers are real. They are all at the level of laboratory research.

What identifiers are actually used for

Currently, there is not a single fingerprint that cannot be altered. Absolutely any fingerprint can be manually modified, whether it is a browser fingerprint or a hardware or operating system identifier. Operating system identifiers are changed through registry editing, which is the simplest method. Browser identifiers, such as canvas, can be altered by adjusting font smoothing settings; change the default font, and your canvas will change. WebGL can be modified by changing the alpha layer in color settings. The audio fingerprint can be changed by altering the sampling rate, resulting in a new fingerprint.

None of these identifiers are used to identify you directly. They are used to detect anomalies. For instance, if canvas is altered, if there are incorrect noises in WebGL, or if you claim to be the best American yet have a Russian operating system and fonts, these discrepancies are detected. When you approach an anti-fraud system claiming to be from the USA (based on your IP), but your computer's clock is set to Moscow time, the anti-fraud system immediately flags you as a potential fraudster.

Social rating as the most reliable identifier

Most people have learned to spoof virtually all fingerprints. Any identifier currently available comes from the browser. If the browser has open-source code, it's not difficult to alter any identifier. Anti-detect browsers are growing exponentially. This situation couldn't continue for long, and anti-fraud systems had to come up with something more reliable. And they did. It's the social rating.

Let's conduct a simple check of an email account in a social rating checker to see what it is, using a random email as an example:

First time email was noticed on August 2, 2021, at 10:39. There are active complaints against it. Also, it's registered on 35 sites. Fraud score is 0, social rating is 50. This is one of the highest social ratings you can get.

Now let's check another email that was registered last year:

Social rating 0. Fraud score 2. In the social rating check, 28 different identifiers are used. The creation date of the email account, active social networks, and payment activity play a significant role.

For example, let's take the canvas fingerprint. How much time does it take you to spoof it? If manually, it takes about 20 seconds. If using some software, it takes about 2 seconds. But how much time does it take to spoof a social rating? You need an established email, active social media accounts, and also payment activity. But where does payment activity come from, and how do anti-fraud systems see it? There is a system called Sift that addresses this.

The Sift system is one of the most powerful in the world due to Big Data. Sift has excellent integration for working with other related systems. In other words, if you have an account in Stripe, you can log into Sift and connect the Stripe system to your account, and they begin bidirectional interaction. There are also Adyen, Amazon, Checkout, and dozens of other systems that can be connected to Sift. Anti-fraud systems need to make money. They want to look at the situation completely differently. And the problem with people is that they either cannot or don’t want to look at the situation differently.

Conclusion

In this article, we’re trying to teach you to look at the situation much broader than you think. When you cling to the same technologies you worked with in past years, you’re desperately trying to bring back those times, but you won't succeed. The way it used to be will never be the same again.

Let's return to browser fingerprints once again. They’re used to detect anomalies in your behavior. However, the assessment of a user's creditworthiness and reliability cannot in any way be based on browser fingerprints. The social rating checker is currently the most important element and tool.
