Latin America is a growing beacon for entrepreneurship, its opportunities defining its place in the global gaming industry as incredibly promising. With regulated markets experiencing rapid growth and newly emerging markets looking to the future, SiGMA America's first event for this market is just right to connect its wide network in the West with Latin America's leading suppliers, operators and affiliates.

NEXT BIG MARKET

Standing on the cusp of new opportunities, Brazil - Latin America's largest and most populous region - is poised for success. Although land-based and online gambling regulations are still being reviewed by the Senate, the iGaming market will grow to 2.6 billion in the next 5 years for this country of sports fans.

In 2018, Brazil's Ministry of Economy adopted a 4-year plan to create a competitive online and land-based sports betting market. This plan accompanies a federal law passed the same year that recognizes fixed odds betting as a legal lottery activity.

In February 2022, lawmakers passed a new bill under which the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies voted to regulate online and land-based gambling, laying the groundwork for the eventual launch of a new regulated market. The bill must pass through the Senate before being signed into law.

On February 23, approval was granted for 31 land-based casinos, as well as additional licenses for riverboats and cruise ships.

The most popular sport among Brazilian bettors is soccer, followed by basketball, esports and poker, with MMA rounding out the top five, according to Statistica's 2022 survey.

SIGMA AMERICAS MERGES WITH BIS

SiGMA Group announced that it has acquired Brazil iGaming Summit (BiS), the largest gaming conference in Latin America to date, for an undisclosed sum. This acquisition will help consolidate the existing portfolio and establish a strong presence in this exciting emerging market.

With the live events sector now out from under the pressure of Covid, there has never been a better time to expand into emerging markets. Over the past nine years, we have grown organically and steadily. Operators, suppliers and affiliates have asked us to expand into emerging markets including Africa, Asia and Latin America. We have heeded these requests and by combining SiGMA Americas with BiS, we have been able to create an unrivaled experience in the LatAm region."
